Der Seilbahnverkehr in Österreich

Abstract

Der Seilbahnverkehr ist eine wesentliche Ergänzung des Sommerangebotes und ein notwendiger Bestandteil des Winterangebotes der österreichischen Tourismuswirtschaft. Seine Wertschöpfung war 1992 mit 5,5 Mrd. S bereits so hoch wie die des Straßenbahn- und Autobusverkehrs. Die Zahl der von den Seilbahnen beförderten Personen ist in den letzten 15 Jahren um jährlich durchschnittlich 6,3% gewachsen (Sommer +1,5%, Winter +7%). 1991 fielen bereits über 90% der Beförderungen in die Wintersaison. Die Seilbahnerschließungen gaben nicht nur dem Wintertourismus kräftige Impulse, sie haben auch dazu beigetragen, daß sich in Österreich eine starke, exportorientierte Seilbahnbau- und Schiindustrie entwickeln konnte. Der Wintertourismus verursacht in den ökologisch sensiblen Gebirgstälern beträchtliche Umweltbelastungen; die direkten Belastungen durch die Anlage und den Betrieb von Seilbahnen und Schiabfahrten fallen wenig ins Gewicht.
