Anhaltend hohe Teuerung 1993 von Sonderfaktoren dominiert

Abstract

Der kräftige Anstieg der Verbraucherpreise hält in Österreich an. Die Teuerungsrate lag in den letzten Monaten um 3,5% und damit erheblich über dem OECD-Durchschnitt. Im Vergleich der Inflationsraten unter den Industrieländern liegt Österreich 1993 an 15. Stelle, nachdem es jahrelang zu den Ländern mit der stabilsten Währung gezählt hatte. Die Stabilitätsprobleme Österreichs sind "hausgemacht". Trotz niedrigerer Rohstoffpreise, günstigerer Wechselkurse und der Konjunkturflaute läßt der Preisauftrieb nur schleppend nach. Besonders auffällig ist der starke Preisanstieg der industriell erzeugten Waren. Die Kostenentlastung aus sinkenden Importpreisen wird anscheinend an die Konsumenten nur unvollständig weitergegeben.
