Wachstumspotentiale des Ostverkehrs

Abstract

Die politischen Veränderungen im Osten haben tiefgreifende Auswirkungen auf die österreichische Verkehrsinfrastruktur. Österreich wird nicht nur wichtiges Ausflugs- und Urlaubsziel für jene, deren Reisetätigkeit der Eiserne Vorhang bisher eingeengt hat, auch die Transitreiseströme aus dem Osten nach Italien und Westeuropa werden Österreich in vollem Umfang erfassen. Ähnliches ist für den Güterverkehr zu erwarten, wenn sich die RGW-interne Arbeitsteilung auflöst und sich die Wirtschaftsbeziehungen zwischen Ost und West intensivieren. Eine gewisse Anhaltsgröße für die Potentiale des Verkehrsaufkommens ergeben die Bevölkerungszahlen. Sie sind nicht nur Richtwert für den möglichen Reiseverkehr, sondern auch für das Potential der Importnachfrage.
