Einkommens- und Produktivitätsgefälle gegenüber Westeuropa verringert. Reallohnspielraum und Lohnkosten in der Gesamtwirtschaft

Abstract

Österreich hat in den letzten zwei Jahrzehnten seinen Produktivitätsrückstand sowohl zur BRD als auch zur EG um 10 Prozentpunkte verringert. Die Arbeitsproduktivität ist damit heute in Österreich gleich hoch wie in der EG. In den achtziger Jahren konnte der Reallohnspielraum nicht ausgeschöpft werden: Der Zuwachs der Reallöhne blieb hinter dem um die Veränderung der Terms of Trade bereinigten Produktivitätsfortschritt zurück. Infolge der Abwertung einer Reihe von Währungen verteuerten sich in einheitlicher Währung die Lohnstückkosten Österreichs stärker als im Durchschnitt der Handelspartner.
