Abstract

Austria's economy is highly competitive internationally in many areas. Nevertheless, there are various economic policy challenges. In addition, the intensity of international competition is increasing. A comparison of Austria's economic environment with 21 other highly developed economies based on comparable indicators that are available across the board shows the most important areas where action is needed. This contribution identifies the respective challenges in different areas and provides solutions. Finally, the growth effects of selected measures are quantified based on a model-based scenario calculation.
