Abstract

The challenge of the Natura 2000 network is the conservation of biodiversity with sustainable development of the regions. Mining activity can be conducted when it does not affect the protected areas in a negative way. This paper describes the objects of protection in the Natura 2000 Jasiołka. The types of negative impact on the environment of the exploitation of gravel and sand are characterized. The influence of extraction of sand and gravel deposits in Trzciana on the objects of protection of Natura 2000 areas is also presented. To assess that impact the AHP multi-criteria method and Leopold matrix have been used. The assessment of the aggregates mining on the environment has been conducted by 35 experts who are competent in all elements of the analyzed problem. They represented the following fields of expertise: geology, mining, environmental management, environmental engineering, environmental protection, ecology.
