Abstract

The present paper clarifies the role of trade in modern society through the functions of trade and their importance in society. In this regard, some important examples are provided concerning socially responsible activity in the business of large companies operating in Bulgaria, which determine a continuous improvement of trade and contribute to improving the economic and social culture of society. This determines the necessity to study the growing importance of trade not only because it provides consumption of goods and services, but also because it has the ability to influence different areas of public life. Thus, trade helps society by increasingly contributing to its sustainable development.
