Abstract

Una de las divisiones que se hacen de la economía con el propósito de sistematizar su estudio es entre el sector real y el sector financiero de la misma. El sector real tiene que ver con la disponibilidad y utilización de los recursos físicos -mano de obra, capital y bienes suministrados directamente por la naturaleza. El financiero comprende la existencia y requerimientos de fondos: dinero, valores y otros activos. La tasa de interés, además de ser la variable fundamental del sector financiero, es a su vez el eslabón que une a este sector con el real. Y esto porque la tasa de interés es en esencia un precio, que por ser tal, facilita o dificulta la utilización de fondos (sector financiero) en la producción de bienes y servicios (sector real).
