Abstract

En las dos últimas décadas, las empresas de inserción han experimentado un gran crecimiento en cuanto al volumen de las mismas y sobre todo en relación al número de personas a las que dan trabajo. Ubicadas dentro del ámbito de la economía social, en el contexto actual español de crisis socioeconómica, suponen una de las medidas de mayor impacto para colectivos en situación o riesgo de exclusión de entre las diferentes políticas activas de empleo. Este artículo pretende poner en valor este hecho, realizando para ello un recorrido histórico de las mismas hasta llegar al momento actual, destacando los momentos clave que han incidido positivamente en su expansión y prestando especial atención al momento actual en cuanto a cifras, objetivos y potencialidades. Para ello, comenzaremos ubicando a las empresas de inserción dentro de la economía social a través de las empresas sociales de las que forman parte tal y como aparece delimitado en la ley 5/2011 de economía social. Continuaremos realizando un recorrido histórico desde sus orígenes hasta la actualidad, prestando especial atención a aquellos momentos significativos para su desarrollo y terminaremos poniendo el foco en el momento actual en cuanto a su importancia, señalando algunos datos que nos puedan dar una imagen nítida de su magnitud dentro de las políticas activas de empleo dirigidas a colectivos desfavorecidos.
