Abstract

Históricamente las relaciones comerciales y financieras sino-latinoamericanas han sido muy reducidas. Sin embargo, el reciente resurgimiento de la economía china ha significado el fortalecimiento y ampliación de sus relaciones económicas con el resto del mundo. En este sentido, la región latinoamericana y caribeña ha constituido una pieza importante de este proceso, en el cual tanto los aspectos económicos como políticos han jugado y juegan un papel relevante. El foco de análisis a lo largo de este estudio son los flujos de inversión extranjera directa (IED) de origen chino que han arribado al continente latinoamericano y caribeño desde 2000 hasta 2016. Así, la pregunta que se plantea en el presente estudio es si estas vinculaciones pueden categorizarse como cooperación Sur-Sur o relaciones centro-periferia.
