La mobilité cyclable dans le périurbain de Nantes et de Toulouse : une modélisation multi-niveau

Abstract

L’usage du vélo en tant que mode de transport au quotidien connaît depuis quelques années en France une croissance marquée dans le centre des grandes aires urbaines mais reste très marginal dans le périurbain de ces mêmes aires. Cet article propose dans le cas de Nantes et Toulouse une quantification du poids des facteurs influençant l’usage du vélo pour expliquer le moindre usage de ce mode dans les couronnes périurbaines par rapport aux communes centre. La construction d’un modèle multi-niveau et des données d’enquêtes ménages déplacements permet de confirmer l’idée que l’hétérogénéité de l’usage du vélo au sein des aires urbaines résulte principalement du développement inégal des politiques cyclables entre le centre et la périphérie, et de la forte proportion de périurbains dont les sorties sont longues.
