Intégration, Investissements Directs Etrangers Et Concentration Spatiale Dans Les Pays En Développement

Abstract

Le modèle théorique proposé, étendant celui de Krugman et Livas Elizondo (1996), cherche à déterminer comment l'implantation de firmes multinationales (appartenant à l'industrie technologique) peut influencer la concentration spatiale des activités économiques dans les pays en développement. Cette influence est notamment conditionnée par l'intensité avec laquelle les firmes multinationales consomment des biens intermédiaires fournis par l'industrie banalisée locale, la concurrence qu'elles exercent sur les firmes domestiques de l'industrie technologique mais aussi par les externalités de connaissance et le capital humain qu'elles génèrent, les infrastructures de transport existantes et le volume d'investissements directs étrangers réalisés dans le PED. Le modèle permet de rendre compte des trajectoires de concentration spatiale en forme de U inversé que peuvent connaître les pays au cours de leurs différentes étapes de développement et de l'effet particulier que peuvent exercer les politiques d'ouverture économique et d'infrastructures
