Abstract

Summary The air traffic market, right now one of the most stable growth industries, is in a strong change. The development in the airport industry concerning integration and globalization is to a certain extent strongly comparable with the above mentioned change. At the same time strategic alliances in between European airlines becoming more and more important European airports establish their own networks as well. The coming deregulation and the bargaining power of their customers forced the German airports to use international synergy and to improve their negotiation power towards their customers who are still growing because of more and more alliances. The sell of governmental shares in German airports allow a market for strategic airport investment and throughout this the chance to create a German airport system.
