Abstract

In this paper, a new improved calibration estimator for estimating the population mean in the stratified random sampling using standard deviation of the auxiliary variable is proposed. A simulation study was conducted to assess the performance of the estimators in symmetric and skewed populations using absolute relative bias, mean square error and percentage relative efficiency. The results showed that the proposed estimator is more efficient compared to the existing estimators considered in this work.
