Abstract

The marketing area at the University of Rochester’s Simon Business School is and aspires to remain a leading research institute specializing in the complex economics based econometric modeling and estimation of marketing phenomena to inform marketing strategy. The research setting is specifically designed to allow faculty, especially at the junior level, and PhD students to develop their research abilities and produce valued work in this quantitative setting for journals in both marketing and other disciplines. What follows is a history of academic life at Simon, noting its evolution on the research front and highlighting the key accomplishments of Simon’s relatively small number of PhD graduates and current and past faculty. As the paragraphs below show, Simon’s marketing group exemplifies the university’s motto “Meliora” meaning “ever better.”
