The article discusses the problems posed by the promotion of sustainability through social responsibility and public accountability. Both adopt a citizen ethic linking with humanism, environmental protection and the economic development needed to provide the material elements that ensure a decent standard of living. The problem is that the two terms of the equation need to be consistent to find a solution. Social responsibility and corporate social are two factors needed to establish a dynamic and sustainable social framework within a capitalist structure, which requires citizens and companies to develop responsible consumer habits and responsible and sustainable investment strategies. The responsibility of government is to ensure the enforcement measures necessary to maintain the balance. And the three factors, citizens, businesses and public authorities, to fight for a potential sustainability
