Social and economic development of Ukraine since independence

Abstract

The article has investigated certain aspects of economic and social development of Ukraine at the current stage. It is shown that in the late 80s of XX century in the former Soviet Union production output was performed in certain industries, concentrated mainly in Ukraine. In the production of many goods Ukraine was a monopoly. The growth of nominal and real GDP, nominal and real wages, the purchasing power of the minimum and average wage relative to the most commonly used food products since independence was investigated. The issue of the time of possible achieving the level of wages in Ukraine to salaries of Russia, Poland, Germany and the United States was considered.
