Adjusted Gini Coefficient and ‘Months Equivalent’ Degree of Tourism Seasonality: A Research Note

Abstract

The Gini coefficient is shown to be a suitable summary measure for tourism seasonality. It is a well-behaved index, takes values in a linear fashion and, when adjusted to a reference uniform distribution, it produces a ‘months equivalent’ degree of seasonality.
