Abstract

The effectiveness of assertiveness training versus discussion group parenting programs with center-city and suburban parents was evaluated in a 2 x 2 factorial design. All parents showed a significant pre- to posttest decrease in restrictiveness on Block's Child Rearing Practices Report, regardless of group membership, and a significantly greater change was noted for parents in the center city.
