Abstract

Face à la conjoncture sanitaire que nous affrontons en 2020, le Fonds monétaire international (FMI) et la Banque mondiale, le G20, le Club de Paris et même le pape François se sont prononcés pour un allégement de la dette des pays les plus endettés aux premiers rangs desquels se trouvent de nombreux pays africains, la Chine faisant plus ou moins figure d’accusée. Face aux surenchères médiatiques et politiques, nous nous demandons dans cet article quel est le poids réel de la dette africaine à l’égard de la Chine, que signifie cet endettement et quel est le rôle joué par la Chine et ses entreprises ? Quelle influence cet endettement a-t-il dans la stratégie de développement des pays africains ?
