Abstract

This research paper provides a detailed analysis of the impact of investments in tourism infrastructure on the development of the tourism sector, through a review of the existing literature. Investments in infrastructure are essential to attract and retaining tourists, and this study highlights how various forms of infrastructure, such as transportation, accommodation and recreational facilities, influence both the tourist experience and local economic development. Additionally, the article examines the challenges encountered in implementing these investments, including long-term sustainability and the necessary balance between infrastructure expansion and the protection of natural resources. The methodology used includes a critical review of previous studies that highlights the different theoretical and empirical approaches used to evaluate the effects of investments. The conclusions emphasize the need for integrated and sustainable management of the tourist infrastructure, which allows tourist destinations to maintain their long-term competitiveness while ensuring the balanced development of the host regions.
