Quantitative Sizing Of Staff – A Solved Problem?

Abstract

Designing a structure is a process with many buildups and many changes, induced by a combination of factors that are best highlighted by the evolution of organizational theories. All the innovations revealed and demonstrated so far have provided some support for the organizational structure, but without offering any concrete solutions pertaining to the human dimension as an integral part of this process. The HR sizing problem, manifested by the occurrence of disturbances that affect climate and organization performance, has often been deliberately overlooked due to the difficulties it poses and lack of viable solutions it allows. The study at hand proposes a discussion on the human resource sizing problem as part of the design process in view of the development of organizational structure theories and the emergence of new concepts influencing this particular process.
