The credit crisis of 1294: causes, consequences and results

Abstract

It is believed that the current credit crunch, which caused the bankruptcy of many banks - the phenomenon is absolutely modern. However, under the current three-year project, the aim of which was to study credit relations between a number of English monarchs and some Italian merchants' associations, has been investigated a medieval credit crunch, when meeting with whom there are obvious parallels with the current crisis. Work carried out at the business school Henley (Henley Business School) at the University of Reading, and funded by the Council for Economic and Social Research, RES-062-23-0733 grant.
