Abstract

En el modelo de Dornbusch (1976), una expansión monetaria genera una sobrerreacción del tipo de cambio nominal si: (1) el precio de los activos es flexible y el precio de los bienes es rígido; (2) hay perfecta movilidad de capi­tales; y (3) hay previsión perfecta acerca del tipo de cambio futuro. Revisamos algebraicamente el modelo de Dornbusch para mostrar algunas cuestiones: el ajuste regresivo de las expectativas y su conexión con la previsión perfec­ta, también establecemos las condiciones para el efecto desbordamiento. Por ejemplo, si los mercados de capitales carecen de la suficiente flexibilidad, el efecto desbordamiento es relativamente exiguo.
