Abstract

Esta investigación evalúa el impacto de la Inversión Extranjera Directa (IED) sobre el crecimiento económico para el caso mexicano por tipo de inversión (nuevas inversiones, reinversión de utilidades y cuentas entre compañías) y por sector económico (manufactura, comercio, servicios, etc.). Esto con la finalidad de identificar cuáles son los sectores que impulsan la IED por tipo de inversión. Particularmente, se desarrolla un análisis econométrico a través de funciones de impulso-respuesta, descomposición de la varianza y causalidad de Granger provenientes de un modelo de Vectores Autorregresivos (VAR). El principal hallazgo empírico es que la reinversión de utilidades de la IED contribuye positivamente al crecimiento en sectores con eslabonamientos in­dustriales; como es el caso del sector manufacturero.
