Criminalidade no Rio Grande do Sul: uma análise econométrica para os COREDES no ano de 2010

Abstract

O presente trabalho buscou identificar alguns dos fatores que determinam a criminalidade nas regiões do Rio Grande do Sul, a partir da divisão do estado em Conselhos Regionais de Desenvolvimento – COREDES. Para isso, estimaram-se modelos econométricos via Mínimos Quadrados Ordinários (MQO) para furtos, roubos e homicídios e concluiu-se que características de cunho geográfico de cada região – como a densidade demográfica e a taxa de urbanização – influenciam nas ocorrências de alguns crimes. Além disso, a partir da análise de variáveis de renda, constatou-se que aumentos de renda aumentam os crimes. No entanto, se esses aumentos de renda forem dos mais pobres, há uma diminuição de crimes. Ademais, os resultados apontaram que desigualdade de renda e uma estrutura familiar instável impactam positivamente nas taxas de crimes.
