Abstract

The shapes of ladies with uneven shapes can be classified in many different ways with some presenting figure issues. There is a significant correlation of various figure types with garment making, which means that there are certain types of clothing that need to be left out and others that need to be selected in relation to the individual's figure type. When it comes to the making of clothing according to figure types, some of the key concerns are balancing, proportioning, and ensuring that the clothing fits correctly on the body, along with the issue of how the garment appears. In the paper, it is stated that Nigerian garment makers are confronted with the problem of the inability to handle necessary alterations in order to correct the figure faults of people with abnormal body proportions due to the lack of basic patterns for constructing garments.
