Corruption and Housing Price Volatility: Empirical Evidence - Corruzione e volatilità del mercato immobiliare: evidenze empiriche

Abstract

This paper examines the determinants of cross-country housing price volatility over 2000-08, with main focus on the effects of corruption. Taking account of various other aspects and potential simultaneity issues, results show that greater corruption is associated with greater property price volatility. Policy implications are noted. - Questo studio analizza le cause determinanti la volatilità cross-country del mercato immobiliare nel periodo 2000-2008, con particolare attenzione agli effetti provocati dalla corruzione. Tenendo conto anche di altri aspetti e problemi coesistenti in questo settore, i risultati indicano che ad un maggiore livello di corruzione è associata una maggiore volatilità dei prezzi degli immobili. Si evidenziano anche le implicazioni politiche.
