Desarrollo al filo de la navaja: economía y trabajo en Brasil: 1995-2014. | Development on knife-edge. Economy and labor in Brazil 1995-2014

Abstract

Examinamos la evolución de la economía brasileña y sus impactos en el trabajo en dos periodos diferentes: 1994-2002 y 2003-2014, cuando dos proyectos contrastantes se desenvolvieron. El análisis de los resultados macroeconómicos y su impacto sobre la desigualdad y las condiciones de vida a lo largo de estos veinte años permite afirmar que el neoliberalismo fue confrontado, si bien de manera incompleta. La desigualdad disminuyó y por más de diez años los beneficios del crecimiento alcanzaron a toda la estructura social. De esta forma, la historia reciente muestra la necesidad de una intervención gubernamental en el centro del proceso de desarrollo económico, junto con esfuerzos sostenidos para reducir la brecha de desigualdad que existe en este país. Los acontecimientos recientes muestran que la educación política y la participación popular también deben formar parte integral de un conjunto de políticas económicas y sociales orientadas a colocar a Brasil en una trayectoria de crecimiento sustentable.
