¿Qué papel pueden tener las cooperativas en una transición postcarbono?

Abstract

Las cooperativas encarnan un modelo empresarial con valores distintos a los del capitalismo. Además pueden amoldarse a economías sin crecimiento porque su prioridad es la continuidad de unos empleos remunerativos. Por eso es pertinente preguntarse qué papel pueden desempeñar en una transición postcarbono. Para responder a esta pregunta se repasa el cooperativismo en Cataluña y se constata que las cooperativas resisten mejor las crisis y favorecen la democracia industrial, la motivación, el compromiso y la cohesión e igualdad entre los socios. Muestran rasgos que reducen su vulnerabilidad e incrementan su resiliencia. Estos rasgos permiten conjeturar la superior aptitud de las cooperativas de cara a la transición postcarbono hacia una economía sostenible mediante un decrecimiento benigno.
