Obstáculos para la transición socio-ecológica: el caso de Cuba en el "período especial"

Abstract

Durante la década de los noventa, el llamado Período especial cubano se convirtió en un proceso de transición social referencial para los movimientos ecologistas de todo el mundo, especialmente en el ámbito agroalimentario, en el que el país experimentó una profunda revolución agroecológica. El artículo revisa esta lectura sobre la viabilidad social cubana, haciendo énfasis en los obstáculos que la bibliografía científica internacional ha tendido a obviar. Posteriormente, a partir de una perspectiva más equilibrada de las luces y las sombras del caso cubano, se ofrecen algunas reflexiones genéricas para pensar las dificultades de la transición socio-ecológica.
