Abstract

ABSTRACT Galicia, an objective 1 region, is the privileged bene ciary of resources from the European Social Fund (ESF). The management of the Structural Funds under the principle of community programming has required the coordination of different administrations under a complex system of competence sharing. In Galicia, the ESF which has played an important role in the qualitative improvement of training has reduced its effectiveness as a result of the precarious structure of professional training and of client performance in political life. The challenge caused by the expansion poses new questions for the regions favored by the ESF.
