Crisis económica, desarrollo turístico y trabajo: el caso de los trabajadores de la comunidad de Los Pargos, Guanacaste

Abstract

Este artículo consiste en un extracto de una investigación mayor sobre los trabajadores que se han desplazado desde las actividades económicas tradicionales, en la comunidad de Los Pargos, en Guanacaste, al noroeste de Costa Rica, con tal de insertarse en el mercado laboral turístico. Sobre estos trabajadores se analiza la percepción que tuvieron en relación a la crisis económica global cuyo momento más difícil se puso en evidencia en 2009, período en el cual nos encontrábamos realizando la investigación de campo. Se enfatiza ese lapso histórico-social, pues se manifestó la fragilidad del turismo como actividad económica dependiente, lo cual tiene un efecto directo y perjudicial sobre los trabajadores que ocupan la parte más baja de la estructura laboral del sector turístico.
