José Martí y la soberanía monetaria

Abstract

El artículo expone las principales ideas de José Martí, expuestas por él en la Conferencia Monetaria Panamericana de 1891, en relación con la propuesta del gobierno de los Estados Unidos, planteada a los países hispanoamericanos, de formar una unión monetaria. También expone los elementos históricos, entre 1878 y 1900, del sistema monetario estadounidense, con el fin de aportar a una comprensión histórica de la posición adoptada por Martí.
