Tendencias comunes en el índice de precios al consumidor

Abstract

Este documento analiza el comportamiento de largo plazo de los rubros que componen el índice de precios al consumidor de Lima Metropolitana, utilizando el modelo factorial propuesto en Phillips y Sul (Econometrica, 75(6), 2007). Con ello, identificamos cuatro tendencias comunes: una de alta inflación, dos de inflación intermedia y una de baja inflación. Este análisis permite entender mejor las propiedades de una buena medida de inflación tendencial de largo plazo.
