Abstract

El buen desempeño de una economía requiere de crecimiento sostenido acompañado de un desarrollo económico y social que permita mejorar los niveles y calidad de vida de la población. Para ello es imprescindible incorporar la sustentabilidad ambiental. Este trabajo desarrolla diferentes indicadores que miden el crecimiento y el desarrollo económico y social con sustentabilidad ambiental; diversos aspectos relacionados con el medio ambiente son incorporados en dichos indicadores ampliando sus alcances. Se analiza la inclusión de las cuentas ecológicas en las cuentas económicas nacionales en el caso mexicano y se discuten los resultados con base en las recomendaciones de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas y otros organismos internacionales.
