El entorno de pobreza y la condicion de inactividad en los jovenes del area metropolitana de Monterrey

Abstract

Mediante la utilizacion de herramientas de econometria espacial, este articulo explora, para el Area Metropolitana de Monterrey, la existencia de alguna relacion entre el entorno economico y social donde los jovenes viven (medido por el Indice de Rezago Social) y su condicion de actividad, ya sea de trabajo, de estudio o de ninguna de las dos. Se encuentra que los jovenes que viven en vecindarios (AGEBs) con mayores niveles de rezago social son particularmente mas propensos a pertenecer a la condicion de inactividad educativa y laboral (nini). Ademas, el uso de herramientas de econometria espacial nos permite concluir que la existencia de ninis en un vecindario es geograficamente “contagiosa”, es decir, la existencia de ninis en un vecindario contribuye a la existencia de ninis en los vecindarios cercanos.
