Abstract

[fre] Subversion dans la reproduction scolaire. . [eng] The longitudinal study of two panels of students followed for eight years 1962- 1970 1973-1981) shows the persistence of reproduction phenomena in the school system early determination of success and failure hierarchization of the streams advantages and handicaps related to social background. In eleven years the overall increase in the chances for success has not changed the social hierarchyin any way. However very important transformation is taking place in the inert world of the school spectacular progress in feminine scholastic achievement in all social strata. The path to success for girls does not follow the masculine pattern the advantages acquired in the early years are partially lost through later orientations as if girls weaker competitiveness were actually an advantage at the beginning of their studies. To coin term for this paradox let us use term subversion
