Abstract

[eng] The Housing of Foreigners in France - Concentrated in large cities, foreign households are larger and have lower incomes than French households. Thus, their housing conditions are not as good both at the level of comfort and the size of the available living space. . The majority of foreign households are tenants. Often living in the housing that is the most delapidated, and very unlikely to ever become owners, they often claim welfare . housing. . Housing aid, which depends on the income and the number of dependents, covers more than half the rent for the foreign households living in welfare housing. However, the proportion of their income that they devote to housing is steadily increasing, but it still remains lower thant that of French households.
