Abstract

[eng] The telephone market - Telephone is no longer luxury for French people but aims to become necessary. The survey « Individuals purchasing purposes » carried out by INSEE, gives a fairly good picture of application for telephone and its characteristics. It appears in particular that telephone just as motor car and contrary to most of households equipment is a property which extends within each social group at fairly different speeds. Households who make known that their intention is not to apply for a telephone put it off quite as much on account of the supposed expense of utilization as owing to telephone connection expense. Generally speaking, making use of a telephone is experienced at work, so demand pull is strong among executives and employees in urban areas.
