Goszakazy and the Soviet Economic Collapse

Abstract

This paper examines the impact of perestroika on planned aggregation throughout the Soviet economy between 1988 and 1991. The negative consequences of an increase in aggregation on the mix of output is hypothesized to be a primary contributor to inflationary pressures and shortages that eventually led to the economic collapse of the Soviet economy.
