Informalidad juvenil en Brasil: análisis de las transiciones escuela-trabajo

Abstract

Este artículo pretende aportar evidencias de que el nivel de educación alcanzado por un individuo es importante para determinar el tipo de ingreso en el mercado de trabajo. Los resultados empíricos se obtienen por medio de un análisis de la transición entre la escuela y el trabajo mediante la regresión de riesgos competitivos. En este modelo, los individuos pueden transitar de la escuela a tres situaciones diferentes: trabajo formal, trabajo informal o desempleo. Para el propósito de este análisis, utilizo los datos de la Encuesta Mensual de Empleo (PME) de enero de 2008 a diciembre de 2013. El nivel de educación parece ser la principal característica que determina la elección de los jóvenes entre formalidad e informalidad.
