El sector productivo cafetalero y su capacidad de adaptación al entorno político y económico 1972-1986

Abstract

La actual crisis por la que atraviesa la actividad cafetalera nacional es producto de un sinnúmero de factores que han actuado de forma limitante para el desarrollo de este sector. La ausencia de una política cafetalera y de una política económica definida y estable han sido las principales causantes del desorden y caos en que se encuentra la caficultura actualmente. Sin la presencia de estos dos factores, que ayuden a estabilizar el sistema, no será posible salir del estancamiento productivo y de la marginalidad en la que el Perú se ha encontrado y encuentra dentro del mercado internacional del café. Un recuento de los acontecimientos ocurridos en un período de 15 años nos darán las pautas para comprender el contexto en que se ha desenvuelto la caficultura en nuestro país, poniendo en evidencia la urgente necesidad de un cambio estructural, como la única posibilidad de que el sector productivo cafetalero se desarrolle.
