Abstract

The aim of this paper is to follow the stages of compiling an English-Bulgarian thematic learner’s dictionary of economics with definitions in English, designed mainly for the purposes of teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP). The paper also defines specialized/terminological vocabulary, focusing on teaching and acquiring it in ESP and the role of dictionaries in ESP. The newly-compiled dictionary can be beneficial to people interested in economic vocabulary and translators of economic texts. It can also serve as a teaching aid for the lecturer to prepare for introducing the respective terminological vocabulary and for learners to acquire it.
