Abstract

Within “historical epistemology of economics†, the present article focuses on the unity between economic knowledge derived from business practice and theoretical economic knowledge. It touches upon: a contemporary discussion on the contribution of business to economics; the conception of the epistemological meaning of economic views during the mercantilist period in the development of economic thought; and the current trend for integration in the development of economic knowledge. This unity is an argument in support of the thesis of the significance of the recent research in historical epistemology of economics in interpreting the scope, subject matter and historiography of economics.
