Abstract

The way the education of serf's children was organized in Russia is still little explored by historians and historians of pedagogy. The reason for that lies in persistent stereotypes held by the society regarding the lack of attention of landed nobility and state to the needs of the population. Published here is a collection of documents dating from the second half of the 18 th c. shedding light on various aspects of teaching of serfs' children in Russia.
