Abstract

This paper investigates the best practice of currency risk management in large Swiss firms. The empirical study is based on survey results with extensive data from 87 large non-financials. The study shows the chosen approaches to cope with currency risks. Furthermore, an empirically derived taxonomy shows that dependent on firm-specific context-factors another approach should be chosen to reach a higher efficiency. Firms with a high currency exposure and a professional approach to manage their currency risk show a significantly higher efficiency.
