THE DEVELOPMENT OF LEGISLATION IN THE FIELD OF CHILD PROTECTION AND SOCIAL WORK IN ROMANIA(English version)

Abstract

The article presents the main regulations existing in Romanian legislation on the protection and social work regarding the children in difficulty, as they were established, progressively, between 1990 and 2010. In this respect, the article presents the international legal documents which formed the basis of the laws and regulations drafted in Romania with respect to the protection of children against abuses, and it sets out how the domestic institutional child protection system is organized and operates. It also mentions the objectives included in the action plans drafted by the Romanian government for the prevention and fight against child abuse, neglect and exploitation, as well as the various projects and activities of the National Authority for the Protection of Family and Child Rights.
