Abstract

The crisis itself was caused by several factors whose relative importance will be debated for years. But whatever the underlzing causes, rightly, the public expects the regulatory environment is reformed to prevent a repetiton of the economic and human costs of the crisis. Policymakers should focus on how to correct deficiencies in the financial architecture that have contributed to the outbreak of the crisis. When reforms are implemented, it is important not only aim to create a stable financial system, but also an innovative and efficient financial system.
