Abstract

Este editorial analiza el colapso del esquema de subsidios al gas natural en Colombia, cuya carga fiscal creció un 642% entre 2005 y 2024. La crisis se sostiene sobre dos pilares: el financiero, agravado por la costosa importación de gas , y la profunda inequidad social de su diseño. El sistema de estratificación actual es anacrónico y genera "errores de inclusión", pues cerca del 81% de los subsidios beneficia a hogares que no están en condición de pobreza. Aunque la transición a un modelo de focalización directa vía Sisbén es una solución urgente propuesta en el Plan Nacional de Desarrollo , el autor argumenta que es un paso intermedio. El debate estratégico debe orientarse hacia una transformación más profunda: una transición energética en los hogares que reemplace los combustibles fósiles con tecnologías limpias , buscando una política fiscalmente sostenible y socialmente justa.
